Hi, I am a tennis coach who likes to write about my experiences in sports, business, and life . . .

I played Division 1 college tennis, had a brief stint playing professional tennis, and owned a junior tennis academy for 30 plus years. The lessons I’ve learned along the way have inspired me to write two books.

The first, Sports Parenting, about the challenges parents face in the world of junior athletics, and most recently, Playing the Game, about the stages of development necessary for athletic success.

If you are a player, parent, or coach you’ll find useful principles and practices in both books that will enable you to perform at a higher level. I’ve also included notes and podcast interviews on this site that you’ll find helpful.

“Bill uses a series of entertaining stories to motivate and coach us in the sport of life. Playing the Game is an important resource for athletes, coaches, and parents. It includes perspective on training, dealing with the ups and downs of competition, and is particularly helpful with advice in the mental side of the game.”

-Tim Wilkison, former top 25 ATP player

Sports Parenting will be an invaluable resource in helping parents navigate the often trying circumstances that come with having a child involved in organized athletics...not only does it belong on your bedside table, but it probably makes sense to keep a copy handy at all times.”

-Pender Murphy, founder TLA Tennis, three-time All-American at Clemson University

I do have some other interests, they include . . .
